Introduction to Somatic Movement - 2 classes

Gain a basic understanding of how to use the Somatic Technique of Pandiculation to regain the brain’s control over muscles and movement patterns in the body. Learn about the 3 Physiological Reflexes that show us in our bodies as a result of Stress, Injury and Trauma and learn how to start moving with ease and control.

Join me for a 5-week Somatic Movement series following the teachings of Thomas Hanna, PH.D. Create more freedom in your mind, body and spirit by learning the Somatic Technique of Pandiculation. Address the 3 main reflexes that show up in the body, due to stress, repetitive movement, trauma or injury and improve function to support your favourite sports or hobbies in life.

Habits of our body include the ways that we think, beliefs that we hold, and ways we get stuck into habits of movement - these patterns are ingrained in our somatic nervous system.  This can keep us locked in fear and pain, stuck where we no longer want to be. Our brains and bodies become a storehouse of limiting thoughts, beliefs and actions. Often times these thoughts, beliefs and actions are so deeply embedded that they are  unconscious. When this happens we don’t feel like we are in control of ourselves and we don’t understand what is keeping us stuck.

SomaYoga  (All levels) - In this class learn how to use your brain to re-educate your muscles, thereby eliminating pain and discomfort. Learn about functional movement and range of motion and learn how to safely increase strength, flexibility, and balance. SomaYoga provides simple, lifelong tools to age with grace and ease. This is an all levels class and suitable for those with pain and symptoms where a traditional yoga class is just too much. This intimate class setting will cater to your specific needs.
 


Restorative SomaYoga Nidra Class - Restore, Relax and Renew your body, mind and spirit with this 90 minute class involving a blending of gentle somatic movements, with restorative postures, ending with 30 minute yoga nidra (guided relaxation - waking sleep). This class will nourish your nervous system and replenish stores of energy to support you in your life. This class is great for those with chronic pain, stress, muscle soreness, busy mind or difficulty sleeping.
